Ground Source Heat Pumps/GeothermalWe live between two great sources of energy, the hot rock beneath the surface of the earth and the sun in the sky. The real key to success in harnessing this energy below the earth’s surface, lies in the heat pump. The efficiency of the heat pump relies on it’s ability to use low temperature heat extracted from the earth for space heating applications. In simple terms low grade heat can be absorbed from the ground either by a ground loop or borehole installation by circulating water at very low temperatures through a closed loop pipe system.
The heat pump extracts this heat and through the use of a compressor and heat exchanger transfer and boost this reclaimed heat for use in a heating installations. The best application for a heat pump system is working in conjunction with an underfloor heating system. In addition to heat pump installations, Renewablenergies can also offer geotechnical drilling and site investigation analysis including surveys for any prospective projects ensuring best compatibility and security in system design. This service and level of expertise is unmatched within Ireland. Current geothermal projects include Ballymena Museum and Arts Centre where 10 boreholes each to 100m are being used to generate heat to the buildings underfloor heating system. We are also involved in a number of large domestic installations including the Republic of Ireland utilising both borehole and ground loop technology. Water Furnace can provide a range of heat pump systems including air to water and water to water options suitable for a wide range of applications including domestic, commercial and process.
